had this idea in my head for quite a few months now, and finally got the chance to go home to find a "patient model" (aka. friend to lovingly abuse in the name of art and ideas) this past Memorial weekend to execute it!
I'm quite pleased

)here are a few behind.the.scene shots
the Greek word chthon, or khthon, is one of many used to mean "earth";
the Greek word chthonios means "in, of, or beneath the earth";
it has been speculated that Mr. Lovecraft could have formed his creature's name, Cthulhu, as a derivative of these Greek terms.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactFirst, it's one of the first critiques where I give full 5 stars in all aspects. The piece proves a great concept, wonderful interpretation and is highly original. The face seems natural there, as if it would be the real face of the earth and the leaves covering it go well with the original idea of Cthulhu (a tentaculed god). It also has new elements as the face denotes a certain beauty and the leaves don't look as some horrible, fearsome tentacles as described in the original.
The framing and color range are good and simplify the photo, letting the viewer focus only on the subject.
So, to wrap up, I find the picture amazing, proving a wonderful concept and being excellently realized.
